Residential & commercial feature walls across Brampton

Brampton Accent & Feature Walls

Shiplap Wall Installation

Clean horizontal or vertical lines with edges and transitions planned for the complete wall.

Shiplap creates a repeated linear surface with more visual mass than narrow slats. Depending on board direction, profile, colour, and room styling, it can feel coastal, farmhouse-influenced, traditional, or distinctly modern.

Interior shiplap can be installed vertically or horizontally using products suitable for the intended room. The complete installation plan should account for board modules, wall width, top and side cuts, corners, outlets, baseboards, and any television or shelving.

Vertical shiplap

Vertical boards emphasize height and often suit bedrooms, entryways, dining rooms, and modern feature walls. The layout should balance the first and final boards while keeping seams vertical.

Horizontal shiplap

Horizontal lines can make a wall feel wider and create a familiar panelled appearance. Course spacing and the top and bottom terminations require careful planning.

Material and finish considerations

  • Board composition and suitability for the room
  • Primed, prefinished, stained, or site-painted material
  • Visible groove width and profile
  • Full-wall or partial-wall coverage
  • Corner, ceiling, and exposed-edge trim
  • Integration with baseboards, casings, and crown moulding
  • Manufacturer requirements for acclimation, fastening, and finishing

Applications

Bedroom Walls

Create a calm panelled backdrop behind a bed or along the entire room.

Living and TV Walls

Use shiplap as the main surface or combine it with a centred television zone.

Entries and Offices

Add clean lines to a compact arrival area, desk wall, reception, or meeting room.

Can shiplap be installed over an existing wall?

Often, but the surface must be assessed first. The installation method depends on wall condition, board product, substrate, fastening requirements, devices, trim, and manufacturer instructions. Moisture-prone areas require materials and detailing appropriate to those conditions.
